It is with some sadness that the BMIMC management committee has decided to cancel all residential retreats between 14 March and 1 August 2020.
This decision was made after reviewing the latest information from the relevant government bodies and considering advice from the Centre’s medical advisor in relation to the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
While nobody at the Centre has been affected by the virus, we are aware that bringing groups of people into a shared living space is problematic in the current environment.
Because of this, we have decided that the best way to reduce potential harm to our teachers, students, staff and the general community is to suspend our residential teaching program until after our mid-year recess. This means that we will not be offering any residential retreats until at least 1 August 2020.
Anyone who has paid to attend a retreat during this period will be offered a full refund.
We are currently in discussion with the teachers of the affected retreats to see if we can offer an online alternative to the retreats that have been cancelled. More information will be provided once this is option worked through.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or distress caused by the decision to cancel our retreats and hope to be able to offer you a safe place to practice again once the situation has settled down.
If you feel able to make a donation to BMIMC please can go to the donations page or contact the office on 02 4788 1024. Your contribution will be of great help in supporting us to pay the bills that will continue to come despite this unprecedented closure e.g. our recent building insurance premium has increased to $10,300.
